How to play Sixty-Six
A compact two-player trick and marriage game where players race to 66 points.
- Players
- 2
- Cards
- 24 cards
- Time
- 15–30 minutes
Objective
Be first to correctly claim at least 66 card and marriage points in a deal.
Setup
- 1
Use A, 10, K, Q, J, and 9 in each suit. Deal six each.
- 2
Turn a card to set trump and place the stock crosswise over it.
How play works
- 1
While stock remains open, players need not follow suit; the trick winner draws first.
- 2
A player on lead may declare a king-queen marriage for 20, or 40 in trump.
- 3
After the stock closes or empties, follow suit and win the trick when able.
Scoring and winning
- 1
A=11, 10=10, K=4, Q=3, J=2, 9=0. Last trick commonly scores 10.
- 2
A deal awards 1–3 game points based on the loser's total.
Rules to settle before play
- 1
A player may exchange the trump nine under common rules.
- 2
An incorrect claim usually loses the deal at the maximum value.
