How to play Rummy 500
An open-melding rummy game where players can claim deeper discard cards at a cost.

Objective
Score points by laying sets and runs while limiting cards left in hand.
Setup
- 1
Deal seven cards for larger groups or commonly 13 for two players.
- 2
Place the rest as stock and turn one discard face up.
How play works
- 1
Draw from stock or take a discard together with every card above it.
- 2
If taking below the top, immediately meld the selected card.
- 3
Lay new melds or add to melds on the table, then discard.
Scoring and winning
- 1
Score the value of cards melded and subtract cards left in hand.
- 2
Continue hands to an agreed target, commonly 500.

Agree on ace value and whether ace may be high, low, or both.

Jokers are optional and should be declared before play.
