How to play President
A climbing game where players beat the current rank with higher singles or matching groups.
- Players
- 4–7
- Cards
- 52 cards
- Time
- 20–45 minutes
Objective
Empty your hand before the other players.
Setup
- 1
Deal the whole deck as evenly as possible.
- 2
Use the agreed rank order, usually 3 low through 2 high.
How play works
- 1
Lead one card or a set of equal cards. Later plays must use the same number of cards at a higher rank.
- 2
Pass when unwilling or unable. When all others pass, the last player to play starts a new combination.
- 3
Record finishing order as players empty their hands.
Scoring and winning
- 1
The first finisher is President; later titles descend to the last player.
- 2
In the next hand, high and low finishers exchange cards under common rules.
Rules to settle before play
- 1
Jokers, revolutions, clears, and social titles vary by group.
- 2
Decide whether passing locks a player out until the pile clears.
