How to play Kings in the Corner

A competitive layout game that resembles multiplayer solitaire.

Players
2–4
Cards
52 cards
Time
20–40 minutes

Objective

Be first to play every card from your hand onto the shared layout.

Setup

  1. 1

Deal seven cards each. Place four stock cards face up in a cross.

  2. 2

Leave the four corner spaces available only for kings.

How play works

  1. 1

Build downward in alternating colors on layout piles.

  2. 2

Move an entire valid pile onto another and fill vacated cross spaces from hand.

  3. 3

Place kings in empty corners and draw one card at the end of the turn under standard play.

Scoring and winning

  1. 1

The first player with no cards wins the hand.

  2. 2

For multi-hand scoring, opponents receive penalty points for cards left, with kings commonly higher.

Rules to settle before play

  1. 1

Players should announce the end of their turn so others can verify the layout.

  2. 2

Agree whether a player must use every available move.
